CALL FOR RESOURCES PERSONNEL FOR FACILITATION OF THE 2ND TYC’S SCHOOLS CAMP CONFERENCE IN KILIMANJARO, TANZANIA

To whom it may concern,

 

TYC organizes the 2nd TYC’s Schools Camp Conference in Kilimanjaro from 31st August to 4th September 2020 in the framework of African German Youth Initiative (AGYI). TYC is looking for five resource personnel/experts from different backgrounds who are: 1 moderator, 1 Rapporteur. The tasks of the five resource personnel are described in detail in the subsequent pages. In this regard, TYC would therefore like to kindly invite qualified personnel to send their proposals for applications to application@tzyc.org before 25th August 2020. Background

 

Tanzania Youth Coalition (TYC) is a consortium/union of 120youth non- governmental organizations, 249 Youth Enterprise Groups (YEGs) and hundreds of youth individuals countrywide. TYC is working towards building the capacity and raising awareness of young people on Sustainable Development among other issues. TYC addresses five programme areas namely 1) Youth Livelihood and Employment, 2) Youth Livelihood and Environment, 3) Youth health and Gender, 4) Youth leadership and building local democracy and 5) Youth exchange and international partnership for sustainable development.

 

TYC is the implementing organization (IO) of the African German Youth Initiative (AGYI), which is a multi-lateral initiative of the German Government with the endorsement of the African Union, aimed at enhancing youth exchange and mobility between African countries and Germany, in the context of education for sustainable development.

 

In this regard TYC is organizing the 2nd TYC’s Schools Camp Conference which aim to share knowledge and experiences on how to improve schools exchange and start domestic programs. And also, to have critical dialogues on how to best establish domestic schools exchange for sustainable development in Tanzania.

Time frame and remuneration

The detailed concept notes and programs will be shared during the debriefing and preparation period beforehand the Pan-African Youth camp. Generally, availability is expected for briefing and preparation in consultation with Tanzania Youth Coalition staff prior to and during the School camp conference from 31st August to 4th September 2020. A total of maximum 5 working days (eight hours each) are applied to provide the service. The remuneration is based on the performance of the contractual services and invoicing.

 

 

Proof of suitability and selection criteria

Please provide evidence how you fulfill the suitability and selection criteria by submit- ting your curriculum vitae (max. 3 pages) and a letter of motivation (max. 2 pages) as well as through selected references (see call-description).

 

Proof of suitability

 

Applicants who are unable to demonstrate their suitability in performing the services in question based on the stated criteria will not be considered further as part of the procurement process.

 

  1. Written and spoken English and Kiswahili skills
  2. Confirmation of availability for the above-mentioned dates
  3. Academic background in education, pedagogy or social sciences or similar/related fields and experience in moderation and
  4. Previous work experience in facilitating schools’ workshops, youth groups workshops (or similar educational formats) in the context of Education for Sustainable Development (please submit at least three references that are not older than two years)
  5. You can provide us with bank account details to transfer the payment

 

TYC is offering four different calls and is looking for five different applicants who are interested in conducting the given tasks during the Schools camp in Kilimanjaro

 

Call 1: One MODERATOR for Schools camp Conference

Call 2: One Keynote speaker/Facilitator on the topic “INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS EXCHANGE VS DOMESTIC SCHOOLS EXCHANGES (LESSONS, OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES)” for Schools camp Conference

Call 3: One Keynote speaker/Facilitator on the topic “BASIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS (INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY)” for Schools camp

Conference

Call 4: One Keynote speaker/Facilitator on the topic “DIGITAL BRANDING AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT” for School camp

Call 5: One RAPPORTEUR/ REPORT WRITER, who will also be a Leader of an Awareness-Team

CALL 1: Moderators’ requirements and requested application documents:

TYC needs one moderator to guide the participants through the programme of the Schools camp conference in Kilimanjaro. He/she will facilitate all workshops during the camp.

 

TYC is asking applicants to apply for the task as a facilitator/moderator, who are…
1.       …familiar with their target group, one being students and youth workers (1)

and the other being teachers (2)

Selection criteria: The applicant is or has been a youth worker (1) or she or he has at least one working experience with the target group (e.g. leading role in a seminar for students and/or youth workers, member of an exchange visit or similar).

The applicant is or has been a teacher (2) or has at least one working experience with the target group (e.g. leading role in a seminar for teachers, member of an exchange visit or similar).

2.       …experienced in youth exchange visits especially Schools exchange
Selection criteria: The applicant took part in at least one youth exchange visit either as a participant or preferably as a group leader. TYC will prefer applicants who have youth exchange experience at least on a national level.
3.       …skilled in conducting conferences and seminars with the aim to empower the participants to create their own knowledge and content.

This contains conceptually preparing students’ group sessions and (co-) moderating workshop sessions as well as other discussion, reflection and feedback formats.

Selection criteria: The applicant has conducted at least two conferences as a moderator and 5 different seminars as a facilitator with youth participants. She or he can hand in at least one conference schedule and one seminar schedule that she or he facilitated. This schedule proves that the focus was to empower the participants to be active.
4.       …skilled in creating a learning environment that focuses on creative and extracurricular learning methods and outdoor activities including accompanying the groups to break away sessions and other activities, and in facilitating action-based, peer-to peer workshop sessions, bringing in expertise on the methodology and didactics of education for sustainable development.
Selection criteria: The applicant has conducted at least 5 seminars with youth participants that have been at least partially conducted outdoors. She or he can hand in at least one seminar schedule that she or he conducted. This schedule also shows outdoor activities.
5.       …flexible and open to suggestions of the participants as well as of TYC as well as able to integrate lessons-learnt, conversations and experiences during the conference in subsequent sessions, based on the existing concept and the overall objectives of the undertaking.
Selection criteria: The applicant is requested to hand in a motivation letter that expresses why he/she should be selected for the post and in what way the applicant is flexible and open to suggestions in general.

Selection criteria: The applicant is an expert for that topic and has worked within that field of issue for at least two years. She or he will summarize her or his knowledge on that topic in a motivation letter.
2.       …familiar with their target group, one being students and youth workers and the other being teachers
Selection criteria: The applicant has at least one working experience with the target groups (e.g. consulting schools, worked with teachers and/or students and or youth workers). She or he will summarize her or his working experience in a motivation letter.
3.       …skilled in presenting at conferences
Selection criteria: The applicant has been part of at least two conferences as a keynote speaker or similar. She or he can hand in at least one conference schedule where she or he had an active part.

CALL 3: Keynote speakers’ requirements and requested application documents:

The third keynote speaker is supposed to be an expert for the topic “school partnerships and Schools exchange programs”. She or he will give a keynote speech addressing the meaning and role of partnerships between schools in Tanzania as well as with foreign schools worldwide. The Keynote-Speaker is expected to take part in the two workshop-phases following her or his keynote speech and give further insights and information when asked by the participants.

The speech should focus on conceptualizing on how schools can start domestic schools exchange. He/she should be able to give an insight to the participants on how the local/domestic schools exchange programs can work in Tanzanian context.

CALL 4 Rapporteur requirements and requested application documents:

TYC needs one rapporteur/report writer, who will also be a leader of an Awareness team to support the participants of the Schools camp conference. The rapporteur will be responsible for report writing for the Schools camping in Kilimanjaro.

TYC is asking applicants to apply for the task as a rapporteur as well as awareness team leader.
1.       The Rapporteur or report documentation should be able to capturing what has been shared, discussed or agreed upon by the groups from the Schools camping. The documentation exercise should have the overall expected outcome of the Schools camping conference.
Selection criteria: The applicant has at least one working experience as a rapporteur. She or he will hand in one report she or he wrote.
2.        
Selection criteria: The applicant has at least one working experience with public events and activities where he or she also supported the well-being of the participants. She or he will summarize her or his knowledge on this topic as well as her or his working experience in a motivation letter.
3.        
Selection criteria: The applicant has knowledge on this topic (e.g. legal and similar). She or he will summarize her or his knowledge on this topic as well as possible working experience in a motivation letter.

CALL 5:

 

TYC is asking applicants to apply for keynote speaker on “DIGITAL BRANDING AND PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT”, who are…
1. …familiar with their target group, of students and teachers.
Selection criteria: The applicant is or has been a youth worker, lecturer or a trainer (1) or she or he has at least five years working experience with the target group (e.g. leading role in a seminar for students, young entrepreneurs, change makers/or youth workers, member of an exchange visit or similar) on the topic of digital branding.

The applicant is or has been a facilitator (2) or has at least one working

experience with the target group (e.g. leading role in a seminar for youth, member of an exchange visit or similar).

 

 

 

2. …experienced in youth development issues
Selection criteria: The applicant is aware of integration of ICT in schools curriculum and youth development policies from all Tanzania countries and can help to connect the ideas of youth development and the youth policies
3. …skilled in conducting conferences and seminars with the aim to empower the participants to create their own knowledge and content.

This contains conceptually preparing youth’ group sessions and (co-) moderating work- shop sessions as well as other discussion, reflection and feedback formats.

  Selection criteria: The applicant has conducted at least two conferences/Forum as a moderator and 5 different seminars as a facilitator with youth participants. She or he can hand in at least one conference schedule and one seminar schedule that she or he facilitated. This schedule proves that the focus was to empower the participants to be active.
4. …skilled in creating a learning environment that focuses on creative and youth friendly learning methods and outdoor activities including accompanying the groups to break away sessions and other activities, and in facilitating action-based, peer-to peer workshop sessions, bringing in expertise on the methodology and didactics of education for sustainable development.
Selection criteria: The applicant has conducted at least 5 seminars with youth participants that have been at least partially conducted outdoors. She or he can hand in at least one seminar schedule that she or he conducted. This schedule also shows out- door activities.
5. …flexible and open to suggestions of the participants as well as of TYC as well as able to integrate lessons-learnt, conversations and experiences during the conference in subsequent sessions, based on the existing concept and the overall objectives of the undertaking.
